The "Giro d’Oro" is a historic race among cycling events held in the Trentino region and has acquired greater importance over the years, also thanks to the participation of some of the strongest cyclists at international level.

A brief look to the honour roll is sufficient to find the name of Damiano Cunego, the strong climbing specialist from Cerro Veronese who claimed his first professional victory right on the roads of Valli Giudicarie in 2002, and won again in 2006 (that year the finish line was moved from Ponte Arche to Fiavé).

Among the winners of recent years worth mentioning are Luca Mazzanti (2005), Jure Golcer (2004) and Dainius Kairelis, who won in 2007, on the race's 25th year.

With a few exceptions, the route usually passes through the central Giudicarie valleys, Valle del Chiese and Val Rendena, before coming back to Giudicarie Esteriori where the race ends with a final circular track in Terme di Comano, a spa resort famous for skin treatments.
In 2007 the 19th leg of the
90th Giro d'Italia ended here as well.
